Prestige Conservatories offer 2 primary types of glazing. For the roof you can select from a range of glass or opt for a polycarbonate roof. The window and door glazing is available in glass only for obvious reasons.

We also offer our polycarbonate with optional ‘Heat-Guard’ which further reduces solar heat gain by 50%.

Polycarbonate is available in both 25mm and 35mm thicknesses.

Light transmission – the percentage of light passing through the polycarbonate sheet.

Solar transmission – the percentage of the energy generated by the sun that passes through the polycarbonate sheet. The lower the value the better.

U-value – The ability of the polycarbonate sheet to retain heat within the conservatory. The lower the U-value the more efficient it is at retain heat.

Shading Efficiency – the lower the percentage means that more shade will be generated.

Glass Conservatory Roof GlazingIn 2015 almost half of all new conservatories were fitted with a glass roof.  Our wide range of roof glass options give you the freedom to opt for extra thermal insulation or UV protection.

Typically for the roof, most clients choose from the following glass options:

The ultimate in performance glass, Celsius Elite brings the best performance glazing you can get for your conservatory.

Visually it has the strongest blue in the range, which serves to enhance colours from your garden without darkening the room.

Externally the tint is more visible, giving a warm, cosy feel to your installation when looking in.

Elite is the best option for conservatories that are south facing and in exposed locations, to ensure you can use the room in increased comfort.

Celsius Clear™

Celsius Clear Conservatory Roof Glass
A stylish conservatory fitted with Celsius Clear glass.

Recommended for the conservatory frames, Celsius Clear is the perfect alternative to standard clear glass.

With a neutral tint that will not stop the light coming through, it will however provide much better protection that standard glass and is highly recommended if you are going to use either ELITE or ONE in your roof to ensure your conservatory performs.

If your conservatory is North facing you might consider using Celsius Clear in your roof to allow a good level of light to come through in winter.

Visible Light Transmittance – This is the percentage of visible light directly transmitted through the glass.

Solar Factor – This is the percentage of total solar energy (or heat from the sun) able to pass through the glass.

U-Value – This is used to measure internal heat loss during cooler periods. The lower the number, the greater the insulation.

UV Transmission – Sun damaging UV rays are dramatically reduced, allowing greater protection of your furniture and fabrics.

Self Cleaning Glass

Self Cleaning GlassOur conservatory roof glass is supplied as standard with a dual action self-cleaning coating which breaks down dirt and washes it away. Water does not form into droplets therefore you can see clearly through your windows (even when it’s raining).

Better still, when the water evaporates it doesn’t leave behind any dirty marks so that your windows and roof stays cleaner for longer.

The self-cleaning coating is fused into the window and lasts the lifetime of the glass unlike ‘spray-on’ coatings which wear off after a period of time.

How Self-Cleaning Glass Works:

  • Actively breaks down organic dirt
  • Water sheets across its surface to wash dirt away
  • Clear vision even when it’s raining
  • Dirty water droplet marks are all but eliminated
  • No need to re-apply the self-cleaning coating
